A large part of the collection of Arab art from the Qatar Museum Authority is now on show in Spain at the Santander Art Gallery in Financial City (Boadilla del Monte, Madrid). Looking at the World Around You: Contemporary Works from Qatar Museums contains mostly art loaned by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, although there are also a number of pieces from other Qatar museums collections. The selection, more than 160 works in total, represents the history of contemporary Arab art as seen through the eyes of 34 artists, most of whom are of Arab origin however there are also some from international artists whose work is related to the Arab world, such as Yan Pen Ming and Cai Guo-Qiang from China and the Belgian master René Magritte.
Pictured here is the spectacular sculpture from New York-based Egyptian artist Ghada Amer called 100 Words of Love.
