A new work believed to be by the street artist Banksy has appeared at Marble Arch in London, where the Extinction Rebellion protests over climate change have been taking place this month. The work, which has not yet been confirmed as an official Banksy, was spotted early on Friday morning and depicts a girl crouched down by a sapling and trowel, alongside the words, "From this moment, despair ends and tactics begin". The phrase is taken from Raoul Vaneigem's 1967 book, The Revolution of Everyday Life. The Bristol branch of Extinction Rebellion tweeted, “Banksy seems to have paid a visit to Marble Arch”, and speculated that the artist may have created the work while crowds attended the closing ceremony of the protests in Hyde Park. More than 1,100 people have been arrested and 69 charged during the protests in central London, which began on April 15.
