If home is where the heart is, then I want to make my home in the south of France. One of my favourite restaurants for lunch is Les Remparts in the La Chevre d'Or Hotel. Located between Nice and Monaco in the picturesque village of Eze, this restaurant is a tiny slice of gastronomic heaven. The superb menu is only overshadowed by the setting. Lunch is served under white parasols with unrivalled views down to the sea (@email:www.chevredor.com, +33 49 210 6666).
I am a novice skier at best. Four- year-old children pass me when I'm out on the slopes. However, I do enjoy skiing in Lech, and the gourmet refuge Frozen, should be a mandatory part of any adult beginner's lesson. Perched high in the Arlberg slopes, its interior is constructed entirely of ice, and the frozen Swarovski crystal bars make it a unique venue that is a must while skiing in Austria (@email:www.frozenlech.com, +43 5583 41825).
Whether I am in Bangkok for business or pleasure, I always make a point of going to the Sirocco restaurant in State Tower. It is outdoors and located on the 63rd floor, which makes the views of Bangkok spectacular. A golden dome dominates the background, which is further highlighted by the incredible live jazz band. It's simply stunning (@email:www.thedomebkk.com, +66 2 624 9555).
Las Vegas for me is all about entertainment. I am a huge fan of the theatre and musicals. I thoroughly enjoyed Eau by Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio Hotel (www.bellagio.com, +888 987 6667).
Monaco, playground of the rich and famous, is renowned for being a costly destination. However, the Columbus Hotel is exceptional value for its rates. It isn't the Hotel de Paris, but it certainly denotes what Monte Carlo is famous for: luxury, glamour and plenty of celebrities. (@email:www.columbushotels.com, +37 79 205 9000).
I can only describe this place as a temple of relaxation. This is what one might believe is heaven on earth and where tranquillity is inescapable: the spa at Coco Palm Bodu Hithi in the Maldives (www.inluxury.co.uk).
I lived in Sicily before coming to Dubai and Taormina is still one of my favourite places in the world. The San Domenico Palace Hotel is a former 14th century monastery and has a perfect balance of old-world elegance and modern-day comfort, encased in air of romance (@email:www.thi.it, +39 011 515 1911).
Think of a shop that resembles iconic Hollywood glamour, stocked with just about everything you want and even does its gift wrapping better than Harrods at Christmas. For me, it's Les True Follies in Portofino, Italy. The store is home to the most exquisite girlie gifts that I have ever seen.
Why does the perfect dress always come with a designer price tag? For a designer look at a more reasonable price, Ideas tailoring on Beach Road Dubai is a must. They will replicate any dress beyond your expectations and their attention to detail is unmatched.
Looking for a weekend break from Dubai? Want to arrive in style? Then Six Senses Hideaway at Zighy Bay in Oman is beyond compare. It's not just another exclusive resort; this hotel is a secluded hideaway that can be reached by hang-gliding in. I never thought I would live to say that it is an amazing feeling jumping off a cliff (@email:www.sixsenses.com, +26735555).
Al Majlis and Caviar Bar in the Emirates Palace hotel is the perfect venue for an informal lunch meeting. For me, it's the combination of efficient staff, an appetising menu and the intimate atmosphere which won me over. I've been a regular ever since I discovered it (@email:www.emiratespalace.com, 02 690 9000).

Stuck in a job without a pay rise? Here's what to do
Chris Greaves, the managing director of Hays Gulf Region, says those without a pay rise for an extended period must start asking questions – both of themselves and their employer.
“First, are they happy with that or do they want more?” he says. “Job-seeking is a time-consuming, frustrating and long-winded affair so are they prepared to put themselves through that rigmarole? Before they consider that, they must ask their employer what is happening.”
Most employees bring up pay rise queries at their annual performance appraisal and find out what the company has in store for them from a career perspective.
Those with no formal appraisal system, Mr Greaves says, should ask HR or their line manager for an assessment.
“You want to find out how they value your contribution and where your job could go,” he says. “You’ve got to be brave enough to ask some questions and if you don’t like the answers then you have to develop a strategy or change jobs if you are prepared to go through the job-seeking process.”
For those that do reach the salary negotiation with their current employer, Mr Greaves says there is no point in asking for less than 5 per cent.
“However, this can only really have any chance of success if you can identify where you add value to the business (preferably you can put a monetary value on it), or you can point to a sustained contribution above the call of duty or to other achievements you think your employer will value.”

FFP EXPLAINED
What is Financial Fair Play?
Introduced in 2011 by Uefa, European football’s governing body, it demands that clubs live within their means. Chiefly, spend within their income and not make substantial losses.
What the rules dictate?
The second phase of its implementation limits losses to €30 million (Dh136m) over three seasons. Extra expenditure is permitted for investment in sustainable areas (youth academies, stadium development, etc). Money provided by owners is not viewed as income. Revenue from “related parties” to those owners is assessed by Uefa's “financial control body” to be sure it is a fair value, or in line with market prices.
What are the penalties?
There are a number of punishments, including fines, a loss of prize money or having to reduce squad size for European competition – as happened to PSG in 2014. There is even the threat of a competition ban, which could in theory lead to PSG’s suspension from the Uefa Champions League.
