A new exhibition at Qasr Al Hosn is exploring the history of the UAE through its peoples' wardrobes. Fashion Through the Years showcases the evolution of fashion trends in Abu Dhabi from the 1940s to 1980s. The exhibition explores the emirate's social history and the stories of its people through the clothes they wore and the accessories they adorned. <strong>Scroll through the gallery above for a look inside the Fashion Through the Years exhibition.</strong> It also showcases how hand-sewn and hand-embroidered garments and accessories have changed both aesthetically and in practice through the years. Displayed across three sections within the outer palace of Qasr Al Hosn, Fashion Through the Years displays more than 30 artefacts and garments of cultural importance. The exhibition includes notable items such as necklaces gifted by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, and an ornate burqa belonging to Fatima bint Mohamed bin Thani Al Mehairi. Fashion Through the Years runs until Tuesday, February 16. The exhibition is open from 10am-7pm from Saturdays to Thursdays; and 2pm-7pm on Fridays.
