An eggsciting eggshibition

A collection of 18 fibre glass eggs will go on display tonight at the Sofitel hotel on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche in order to raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation. Titled the ‘Break an Egg Campaign’, the exhibtion is a collaboration with the artists of Abu Dhabi Art Hub who have come together depict their interpretation of true meaning of the egg - a symbol of transformation, new beginnings and eternal youth.

“The Abu Dhabi Art Hub is proud to support this initiative by Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche,” says Ahmed Al Yafei the founder and owner of Abu Dhabi Art Hub. “We found the concept of the egg compelling as a canvas for our artists and understood the importance of visualising the true meaning of the egg for Make a Wish Foundation. We are always looking for great projects as a platform to engage with the community and we are excited to bring this project to life.”

Nine Emirati artists have designed an egg, including Mohammed Al Astad, Azza Al Qubaisi, Sumayyah Al Suwaidi, Wafa Khazendar and Sheikha Alyazia bint Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. Her father, the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Social Development, is due to open the exhibition at the hotel this evening.

There will be a donation box in the lobby to accompany the exhibition to raise funds for the non-profit organisation, Make A Wish Foundation and Abu Dhabi Art Hub will host a private auction of the life-sized eggs at a later date of which part proceeds will also be donated to the children’s charity.
