ADFF 2013: Mark Boone Junior on being the bad guy in Life of Crime

Sons of Anarchy star Mark Boone Junior speaks about playing a bad guy in Life of Crime, which opened the Abu Dhabi Film Festival last night.

You’ve done a lot of independent movies in the last few years, why is that?

I like working with people who are committed to making movies. The crew on this movie worked their butts off, for absolutely nothing...I worked for very little money.

The only person who made money upfront on this project was Jennifer Aniston, and that’s how it should be ... there were 5,000 people at the Toronto Film Festival because of her. It was fantastic.

There’s a scene in this film where your character tries to rape Jennifer Aniston character. How did she cope with that?

She dealt with that so well. I have done a lot of horrible scenes like that with women in my career, and some actresses never talk to me again afterwards.

I remember I did a scene like that with one lady and four years later she saw me at a film premiere and literally let out this blood curdling scream when she saw me.

Jennifer handled it so well. In fact, she provokes me in the scene. But that wasn’t written into the scene, it was spontaneous. That was the cracking point for her character.
