About 400 innovators will gather in Abu Dhabi today to show off their homegrown technology projects and prototypes as part of Innovator 2014. The free-to-attend event aims to bring together do-it-yourselfers from across the UAE while also featuring shows, speakers and interactive experiences. “We are proud to showcase this budding creativity to an audience of all ages and backgrounds,” said Majid Al Mail, senior manager at the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee. The event begins at the First Gulf Bank Arena at Zayed Sports City at 12pm.

Two Government employees protest their innocence on bribery charge

Two Government employees were caught in a bribery case, the Criminal Court heard on Thursday. The first is accused of offering the bribe and the second of accepting it. Both defendants denied the charges. The second defendant said he was an architectural engineer and did not know about the bribe. “He [the first defendant] asked me if I know anyone who could speed up his company’s procedures, and in return he would give a small tip,” he said. He said he did not ask the other defendant to do any extra work for the amount he was to pay. The case was adjourned to April 14.
