Roberto Cavalli has named British designer Paul Surridge as its new creative director.
Surridge steps into the role left vacant last October when Peter Dundas stepped down from the position.
Surridge trained at Central Saint Martins (where John Galliano and Alexander McQueen both graduated from). His first professional role was at Calvin Klein, before moving to Burberry to work under Christopher Bailey. The 2000s saw him move to Jil Sander, to work alongside Raf Simons, before being made creative director of Z Zegna.
"I am honoured and proud to carry forward the legacy of this extraordinary Italian house," Surridge told Vogue on May 10. "This is a unique opportunity to contribute a new chapter to the Roberto Cavalli universe, which positively celebrates the beauty, sensuality and power of women."
His first show for Cavalli will be for the spring/summer 2018 collections, in Milan this September.
