Isn't it about time we took responsibility for our own actions (Al Ain quad biking horror story a warning to others, unlucky couple say, January 6)? If you hire a quad bike, as long as that bike is technically sound, you are totally responsible for how you drive it. Enough said.

Have respect for each other
I refer to Rym Ghazal's opinion article When does the pursuit of love cross the line? (January 7). I think both men and women need to have respect for themselves and each other. As much as women don't want to be harassed, it is possible men also don't.
Sharlene Smith Cardozo, Abu Dhabi
Do you really think the pursuit of love can “cross the line”? These poor women are certainly being attacked.
Thomas Mnt, Dubai
In Saudi Arabia, where I lived for several years, shopping malls are the only place singles can interact. And that’s pretty much the only reason men go to malls. So I’m surprised that they don’t like the attention.
Usually they’re the ones being chased off by security guards for bothering the women. Many malls do not allow single men inside, especially in large groups.
Kerstin E Smith, Abu Dhabi
It’s amazing how many people don’t know how to interact with the opposite sex. To all men: women are humans too. So don’t just treat them as fragile beauties.
It’s also sad that so many confuse “being outgoing” with “being easy”. Many 30-somethings act like young teenagers with the opposite sex because they have lived a sheltered life.

Beware of lucrative deals
Regarding your news report Investors warned over 'double your cash' scams in Dubai (January 7), there is an old saying: "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is".
Have we not learnt from the likes of Bernie Madoff who ran a Ponzi scheme for years, cheating the average investor out of millions, while he lived it up with their money? What about Allen Stanford?
Any person who comes to you and says that he could give you returns double of what the market is paying is either a con or a fool.
In a world where we have instant access to information, it’s the responsibility of the individual to exercise due diligence before investing.
In business law, the principle of “let the buyer be aware” applies and should be at the forefront before making decisions.

What prompted Iranian mob?
Iran's reaction is crazy (How Iran broke all the rules with attack on Saudi embassy in Tehran, January 6). Why did they have to destroy a Saudi government property?
It’s sad that Iranian security officials were unable to control the mob when it attacked the embassy.
Betty Tiu, Dubai
It’s wrong to blame the entire country based on the actions of a few citizens.
That’s just generalising and to say that Iran broke the rules is completely misguided.

Beach initiative is thoughtful
I am so impressed by the creative ideas the Government introduces on a regular basis (Dubai beach's access ramp is a boon for wheelchair users and parents, January 6). The opening of a 135-metre accessibility walkway at Kite Beach in Dubai is very thoughtful.
Rania El Alami, South Korea
I am a beach-loving mother of a beach-loving child in a wheelchair and I thank the Dubai Government for this facility.
