ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Municipality is carrying out a campaign in Mussaffah to educate construction workers on laws against “distorting the city image” with construction work.

The municipality distributed leaflets on penalties of the Law 16/2009, which range between Dh2,000 and Dh50,000.

“Some of these offences are harmful to the city,” said the municipality.

The law, which regulates the construction phase of a project, make its illegal to begin a construction without erecting a temporary wall, a lack of security and safety measures for pedestrians and surrounding buildings, carrying out construction or demolition work without a proper permit.

“Throwing waste in undesignated rubbish-collection places and bins, generating sounds above the permissible levels,” are also examples of violations, the municipality said.
