It's no big surprise that Palestinian-American model Gigi Hadid is the face of Max Mara's spring/summer 2017 accessories campaign. Sporting big curls and wearing solid shades of black, white and bright red, Hadid models handbags and eyewear, including the season's new Bo Bag and Lina2 sunglasses. Hadid was reportedly so enamoured with the sunglasses that she placed a special order for one in each colour.
Hadid is a long-time partner of the Italian label. She opened Max Mara’s autumn/winter 2015 runway show, and starred in its autumn/winter 2015 ad campaign. She was the face of the brand’s autumn/winter 2016 accessories campaign, and opened the Max Mara spring/summer 2017 runway show. Hadid also attended the launch of the Bo Bag (which is featured in the new spring/summer 2017 ad campaign) at the Corso Vittorio Emanuele flagship, where she was greeted by more than 4,000 fans.
“Max Mara creates timeless garments. It is a brand that is both contemporary and classic, and I think this aspect clearly shows in the advertising campaigns,” says Hadid.
One of the model’s most memorable moments of the last year also occurred while leaving the Max Mara autumn/winter 2016 runway show in Milan, when she was grabbed by Ukranian celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk. After the incident, she tweeted: “How dare that idiot thinks he has the right to manhandle a complete stranger. He ran quick tho...”.
