Dubai, episode II

French artist Cédric Delsaux, who did those evocative mash-up images of Dubai and Star Wars characters and scenes, wants to come back to do some more. We're happy to offer him some suggestions

A droid army masses on Sheikh Zayed Road; the fearsome figure of Darth Vader gazes out at a half-constructed building shrouded in night; a spaceship hovers near Burj Khalifa.

The photo exhibition Dark Lens - The Dubai Invasion, by the French photographer Cédric Delsaux, offered these images and more in a striking montage combining characters and spaceships from the Star Wars films with Dubai landmarks. Now the artist is hoping to return for another project if he can get the necessary permits.

Delsaux has shown that he can offer a fresh take to the most familiar of backgrounds. Even the usually prickly Star Wars creator George Lucas gave him his blessing.

Many of us would like to see Delsaux delve deeper into Dubai. Perhaps Princess Leia shopping at Dubai Mall. Or Anakin Skywalker recklessly driving his podracer down the Dubai-Abu Dhabi motorway. And who wouldn't want to see Yoda in a lightsabre duel with Modhesh?

But why stop with Star Wars? The possibilities are endless: the Na'vi tribe from Avatar could add more colour to an already multicultural city. The machines from Transformers would fit in seamlessly among some of the monstrosities we see on our roads. And the cast of Bridesmaids would certainly not be out of place at a Friday brunch.

For now, we await the return of the Jedi photographer.
