Dolce & Gabbana to roll out UAE abaya collection

Designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have just wrapped up a four-day haute couture extravaganza in Italy’s Portofino. On the sidelines of Alta Moda, Stefano Gabbana revealed that he’s already looking ahead to next year’s presentation.

“I have the idea and location for the next Alta Moda.” he said “It’s like making a movie, a director looks for the right actors, costumes and music to tell a story and we have the same approach.”

About 300 high-net worth clients and select press received first class treatment and warm Italian hospitality from Domenico and Stefano over the days they spent along the Riviera. Despite the pressure for Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria shows to be perfect, Stefano says the experience was a pleasure.

“It doesn’t feel like work to me and I don’t want my guests to have that feeling either.” he said “It’s very similar in the Middle East - guests are so important. I want to make everything the best for them and my guests have become friends.”

The designer also revealed the brand’s plans to launch a collection of contemporary, traditional pieces in the region soon.

“I’m really fascinated with the Middle East and we’ve just completed a prêt-a-porter collection of abayas and sheylas.” he said “Pieces have some lace, embroidery and some prints – but not too much. They will be available in the UAE this October.”
