We’ve known about the quirky designs by accessories brand Sarah’s Bag for some time now, but Amal Clooney recently jettisoned them onto the global style stage.
What sets the Lebanese brand apart is that the artisans making the bags are prisoners and ex-prisoners. More than 150 women have been trained, empowered and gained financial independence through the programme which was established in 2000.
Familiarise yourself with the label’s designs — which include clutches bearing the UAE’s skyline and brightly embroidered Arabic calligraphy — in Abu Dhabi this month. Key pieces from collections past and present will be exhibited from today until May 7 between 3 — 10pm at the IPIC arena.
