The second edition of the Modern Woman Show opens on April 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together a range of local and international designers.
The brainchild of Emirati entrepreneur Reem Al Zarouni, the show is organised together with Dubai Design District and the Dubai Design & Fashion Council, and aims to be a platform that brings modest wear and accessories to fashion-savvy buyers. With the Mena region showing a retail growth of 4.7 times above the global average, Al Zarouni is keen to showcase the best of the region. As she explained: “This is a chance to show the world that modern Muslim women can be very stylish and trendy, wearing scarves and abaya.”
Visitors can attend fashion shows from labels such as Studio 8, Hijab Fashion Icon and House of Meena, and shop from pop-ups from Das Collection, Dress Addict and Lilass Abayas from Bahrain.
Speaking ahead of the show, House of Meena designer Yasmin Megerisi said: “We are seeing a new acceptance of modest dressing, a global change, with models wearing headscarves on the runway.”
The three-day event will also offer visitors access to jewellery, handbags and even chocolates from niche brands.
The Modern Woman Show runs from April 20 to 22 at Za’abeel Hall 4, Dubai World Trade Centre, from 12 noon to 10pm
