UAE traffic: accident in Abu Dhabi delays motorists

On the final working day before the new school year, the only traffic trouble spots were from Sharjah into Dubai and on Salam Street in Abu Dhabi.

Motorists on Thursday commuting from Sharjah southbound faced delays on the E11 and 311.

In the capital, an accident heading out of the city on Salam Street led to delays.

On the E11, there were tailbacks from Ansar Mall down to Al Mulla Plaza, while on the E311 delays began from the industrial area down until Dubai International Airport.

Motorists in the capital faced delays heading into the city, on the stretch of Salam Street that connects to roadworks around Sheikh Zayed Tunnel.

On Sunday, the schools return, bringing more cars and buses onto the country's roads.

Dubai Police have launched an awareness campaign to aim for an accident-free day on the emirate's roads.
