Vitantonio Liuzzi, the Force India driver, tells Simon Arron about his eventful Canadian Grand Prix. Fifth on the grid, ninth in the race after fighting back from a first-lap accident. Do you think the Canadian Grand Prix served as a useful reminder? I hope so - but it's much easier when the car works properly. I feel very good at Force India because everyone has supported me through difficult times. After my poor weekend in Turkey, the team believed what I had to say, looked for the problem, found it (the previous car's floor had not bonded properly) and gave me a new chassis. I always get 100 per cent support.
Moments after the start, you spun following contact with Felipe Massa. What was your view of the incident? I was on the inside initially and couldn't move any more or I'd have ended up in the pit lane. My inside wheel was already on the grass. He kept closing and closing until we collided. I don't want to say he hit me or I hit him; it was just a typical first-lap accident. It was a shame for us because we could and should have scored a few more points.
Do you think Canada will be a turning point for the rest of the season? It was definitely one of the better ones, even if what happened on lap one was a low point. I qualified fifth because we were genuinely quicker than some of the top teams, not because of peculiar circumstances. You passed Michael Schumacher on the final lap, but he made you work hard. What was that like? He was really struggling by then, because his soft tyres were badly worn and it was clear that he was a couple of seconds slower than I was. I love racing with him, because you always learn something. He's very professional. With Michael you can always fight fairly. We touched once, but it was very smooth - just normal racing.
